Welcome back to the one & only #TheMessyProject! 


SO If you are new around here & have yet to hear about the project, you can check out all the info HERE..... but here's just a quick little intro to help you get more acquainted to the project  ----> 

SO for this round I decided to switch it up and focus on a trendy color this season while searching for our item. Coral was the color I was after...which wasn't hard, that color is EVERYWHERE....but thats a good thing because I love it.

SO I decided to go with this fabulous silky striped coral top

& how super cool is the back?! Adds such a fun twist on the top dont you agree? 

SO at first glance I automatically thought white pants......but what fun would that be if I didn't try something different? SO i decided to give a certain trend another try...I wasn't really feeling it at all the first time I tried this certain trend, but I am not one to give up so quickly so I tried it again....print on print....BUT this time, the prints are the same

Here's what I did ---->>>>> 

so since the top was thick horizontal stripes I thought pairing it with vertical stripes could be kinda fun. Plus I really love the coral color against the navy & white skirt. Since there is already so much going on I didn't want to add too much more with accessories so I kept it simple with a long skinny gold necklace, my gold watch and a gold bracelet. Since it's summer time I added my wooden open-toed platforms to add a funky edge to the outfit. 

the wind was blowing so much, my hair was everywhere

so there you have it, my second try at print on print & this time around I don't hate it, but I still don't love it. Maybe it will grow on me. What do YOU think of the print on print? What would've YOU done to style the top?

hello everyone! TODAY I am off to Disneyland with the BF to celebrate my birthday, as you can imagine I am beyond excited! Hey MessyDirtyHair readers!  I'm Kristen from The Mrs. & The Momma!  I'm so excited to be "meeting" you!

Today, I thought I'd keep it pretty simple in terms of a guest post, and give you a glimpse inside my world/blog.  

Just to sum it up, I like to consider my blog three parts fashion, one part life, and one part family...although that precise math is subject to change.  

I'm a lover of cold-weather clothes (I loathe Texas summers even though I'm native Texan), vintage jewelry, Star Wars, sushi, diet Dr. Pepper, fireworks, the smell of babies, getting dolled up, history, 

and most importantly-

Sour Patch Watermelons.

A few more random tidbits about me:

-I have four little munchkies, with whom I am utterly in love.  I'm so blessed to be able to stay home with them (my oldest is 7).

-My husband and I have dated since junior high (if you can even call it "dating" when you're 13) and boy do we have some stories to tell!

-I got my middle finger slammed in the hood of a car when I was 16 and it never straightened out...but when I try to prove it to people, well ya' know...I end up just flicking them off. :)

the MINI project ------->>> the white album

& we are BACK with the 5th edition of the MINI project!!! Not sure what the MINI is? Here's a quick little intro ---

 Well, Its allllllll about the MINI parts of fashion - the ACCESSORIES...which can also play a huge role in our everyday outfits. Just like clothes, accessories are also worn differently by each person depending on their style, shape, look etc. 

So the MINI project focuses only on accessories....but I don't mean just jewelry - tights, hats, sunglasses, headbands, bows, scarfs, shoes, belts, gloves are alllll accessories as well. Like always -

SO of course I could put this headband in my hair....but we have alllllll seen that way too many times around here & since the point of the MINI is to step outside of the box & try something new, that's what im gonna do!




SO today I am going to show you something else you can do with this headband, which will be helpful to those who think they can't 'rock' headbands like this.

so as you can see I just took a simple straw hat and put the headband around it to add some flare to the hat. I really love the way the fluff looks on the hat and the colors are so pretty and fresh. I decided to wear all white since its summer time and it just felt right. I wanted this look to be easy, breezy so a simple white tank and white linen pants with some simple gladiators and you're good to go.

& I added some simple gold jewelry, along with some beaded bracelets to complete to outfit. I just love the way gold looks on white. It has such a summer feel to it.
