Welcome back to Round 5 of #TheMessyProject!!! If you are new around here & have yet to hear about the project, you can check out all the info HERE..... but here's just a quick little intro to help you get more acquainted to the project ---->
Sooooo for Novembers group I wanted to do something different. There are 2 girls in the group who write mostly fashion blogs so I wanted to challenge these fellow fashionista's with something different than the usual. Plus I was super excited to have Jenna from the very FIRST Messy Project apart of this months as well so I wanted to challenge her too since this was her second time around.
I went through a few different options until I decided on THE ONE. I knew this was going to be a challenge, even for me but I wanted to spice things up this month. So I am not going to lie, a few of the girls were not very happy with me when they received their item. They were nervous, but I wasn't. I knew the type of girls I had & I knew they could do this! It was just a matter of stepping outside of the box & thinking differently. Considering that it is the holiday season I wanted to also stay with that theme. I wanted to find something fun & festive that the girls could wear to a holiday party or event.
So I decided on this ---->
Navy Blue Sequins Shorts. Oh yes.
So like I said above this was even a challenge for me. Mainly because I decided to get navy blue & not the typical black. Everything goes with black, so it's much easier to put outfits together. But throwing in a different color changes things up. Nonetheless, after going through my closet & trying on a few different options I finally came to my decision as to how I was going to style these shorts....& I don't know why but every time I go to style my outfit for #TheMessyProject it always turns into some type of theme. So for this round I feel like my outfit had kind of a British feel to it. See for yourself ----->
So as you can see I decided to put tights with the shorts so they could have more of a winter feel to them. I didn't want to do just plain tights so I got ones with some simple white dots on them. Then I added a navy & white stripped top to match the shorts. I wanted the shorts to be the main item so I tucked the top in & hiked up the shorts a little bit.
Then I added short black boots. I know what you're thinking, black & blue what?!?!? But yes, it is okay to mix & match blue & black. I mean did you think I was going to wear matching navy shoes? That's just too 'matchy matchy' for me....& to finish off the look I kept it simple & added gold bangles & a statement gold ring. Remember less is more.
So I was having so much fun with this look that I decided to add some more pieces of clothing to take this party outfit outside. So I added a jacket & a red scarf to add some more color!
And just because I am wearing sequins shorts it doesn't mean I can't add some winter accessories like a scarf or GLOVES to the outfit.
Can you tell I had a lot of fun with this outfit? And as you can see just because they're shorts doesn't mean they can't be worn during the winter. Personally, I think they're the perfect holiday party outfit. Its fun, festive & something original.
I feel like this round of the project was a great example of stepping outside of the box & trying something new. So how would you have styled the shorts?
What to see how the other girls styled their sequin shorts!? Check 'em out & show them some love
