anddd its Sunday yet again....today I'm off at the beach getting a tan while we still have sun, but i am SO ready for the weather to COOL down....so today I'm linking up with Neely & Ashley for Social Sunday! Since last week they ended the linkup with an end of summer theme, this week we're starting fresh & re-introducing ourselves & our blogs. I thought since I've gotten quite a few new followers since the start of Social Sunday back in June I figured it'd be a good way for those of you who are new around the mess to get to know me a little better...PLUS it just so turns out this is my 200th post since I started blogging in February....so let's get social!  

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??
Well clearly the name of my blog is Messy.Dirty.Hair ....I came up with the name originally because my mom would always say to me "why is your hair always so messy"...& then I realized I go days w/o washing it - dirty...so the name came about...however Messy.Dirty.Hair has turned into more of a lifestyle than just a blog name...read all about my embrace the mess story HERE

2. What do you love the most about blogging??
I love being able to release my creative juices & have fun with my blog & fashion. I also love meeting new people & reading about how others live their lives all over the world. Plus the friendships that I have made w/ some bloggers has really been fun...& blogging even helped me reconnect with a few old friends like her & her who started blogs around the same time.

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?
Hmmmm probably my day to night post about how to change your outfit from day time to night time with just a few quick changes - you can read that HERE & the very first #TheMessyProject post - i love these girls & they really went above & beyond for the launch of #TheMessyProject...& the launch was just perfect....you can read that post HERE

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?
It's a lot like high school with cliques...so be ready for that....& having a successful blog is A LOT harder than you could possibly EVER imagine.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?
That people will be nice to you & give you & your blog attention just to get your business & then once you've given them business its like you & your blog never existed. Make sure you find the real people out there in blogging. Not just the ones only looking out for themselves.

besides mine..hehe....well --- I'm going to break the rules a little & give you 6 blogs you NEED to be following - i know, I'm such a rebel....check out my loves HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE.....& oh yeah HERE & HERE...if you have yet to really know these girls, you're missing out...big time!

 

 and there's one more thing I want to add about blogging & the blog world for anyone who may be new to everything - don't be scared to reach out to other bloggers for help - whether it be for personal blog help, having them write a guest post or participate in a giveaway. hello lovers!! happy Tuesday! so i know you all want to see my new hair change & really I cannot wait to show you but today is not that day...boo hiss i know....but before you get upset & peace outta this bitch i have a fabulous giveaway today from my favorite boutique!

so a week ago I stopped by The Lincoln Street Boutique for the Back School Sale! Yes i am not actually going back to school but i still back to school shop...plus I know the owner & she's amazing so i had to stop by & say hello!

She had a delicious candy bar set up & some soda pop for everyone...who doesn't like shopping while munching on some sweets!?

I'm obsessed with this boutique. The reason i love it so much is because the pieces she buys are original pieces that i don't normally see when I go into department stores. You can tell that she really takes her time when she goes to buy for the store...& even better the prices aren't out of this world either, they're actually reasonable! I literally wanted EVERYTHING in the store. I was dying...take a peek for yourself -

dying right?! there is literally something for every style - from girly to rocker, to classic, to beachy & just plain sexy..she's got it...so of course I had to try on some things...

ahhh obsessed! i didn't want to & was trying SO hard to contain my shopping addiction but i failed & of course I got some stuff...2 of the items I got i tried on...can you guess which ones I got?.....so funny story, I'm not suppose to shop & I made a promise to my mom i wouldn't buy a single thing.....well i didn't really plan ahead & think how I was going to sneak these clothes past my mom....so i come home & my mom gives me a look right when I walk in the door - like what did you buy...& of course I denied denied denied...but she's my mom & knows me so she knew I was lying...so I gave in & told her 2 of the 4 things i bought.....fast forward a few days & I'm chatting with my mom to see what kinda mood she is in & its good one so i tell her I have a confession....the first words outta her mouth were "what did you do".....so with my tail between my legs i told her about the rest of my purchases...& she replies with "you're crazy"....crazy for fashion you mean..haha...so a weight was lifted from my shoulders...& now I can enjoy my new stuff openinly & not secretly stuffed in the back of my car trunk....

Snail Mail & Go Buckeyes!

so a month or so ago Holly of Running in Stilettos & I discussed our love of snail mail & how we wanted a penpal...well instead of just talking about it we decided to do it! & to make the penpal snail mail even more exciting we decided to have themes with our snail mail.

If you don't know Holly well that sucks first off, but second shes from Ohio...somewhere I have never ever been...& well I'm from California somewhere she has never been! We both are so interested in each others states that we decided our first snail mail would be hometown themed!

I was SUPER excited when I got her package because one I love football & two i love clothes. If you didn't know Ohio State football is HUGE in Ohio. They call it The Buckeye State! I always wanted to go to a college that was big in football but it never happened. I went to a few University of Oregon football games back in the day & i LOVED them. But now I'm transiting into a Buckeye! So in honor of football pre-season starting I decided to have some fun with my Ohio gear!!!

what do you think of my awesome football moves...pretty legit right? ha!  In my defense tho, I did play powder puff in college & kicked some sorority girl ass! ...so one of my dreams in life was to be a cheerleader in high school. I never wanted something so bad. Cheer was huge in our town & it was something I worked towards from the moment I started dancing at age 3. So when it finally came time to try out for cheer my freshmen year of high school I was ready to go....

However, I still to this day remember sitting in the gym floor with all the other hundred of girls who also tried out. I was sweating beyond belief as the varsity cheerleaders passed out envelopes to the girls who made the JV team. I never got an envelope. I just had to sit there watching my dream fade away while hearing all the excitement from my friends making the team. I was devastated. It was an awful day filled with a lot of crying & well a lot of screaming....see I do have a little bit of a temper so when I got home I kinda threw a fit...

But it didn't detour me. I was determined to be a cheerleader! So when i got to college I was super excited to hear we had a cheer team. So of course I tried out. I was SO nervous. I didn't think I was going to make it....& I prayed that they wouldn't torture us like they did in high school making everyone sit in the gym & watch who makes it. Luckily they just gave you a number & after the tryouts posted a list of the numbers who made it. I remember walking up to the list shaking & praying to God. I went up to the list...& at first glance I didn't see my number....a pit started to form in my stomach....but as I looked closer there I saw my number...3rd on the list. I made it. I made the cheer team. I was a cheerleader. I called my mom crying. I was hysterical. We both were. Finally my hard work paid off & I got to live my dream.

Before I transferred to San Diego State University I attended Sonoma State University...& no I don't really know what a seawolf is?

Okay sorry I got sidetracked....but when I think football, I think cheerleaders......so overall i LOVE my Ohio stuff...it got me even more excited for football season!

 and nothing is better than ending the day watching some pre-season football & having a nice cold drink....with my Ohio State koozie of course!
