Welcome back to the one & only #TheMessyProject!

SO If you are new around here & have yet to hear about the project, you can check out all the info HERE..... but here's just a quick little intro to help you get more acquainted to the project  ----> 

so like I said last week, since July is the 1 year anniversary of #TheMessyProject I wanted to go back to the basics of fashion...

Black & White 

& last week was white....so today we are tackling my FAVORITE color to wear

BLACK....& i wanted to round out the 1 year celebration with a bang so I sent the girls these gorgeous black dress with a crinoline....i die

So its no secret around these parts I am obsessed with hippy crowns. I can't get enough. But when I got this beyond beautiful flower crown that is now my favorite hair piece ever (EVERY girl needs one) from my girl Melis at Mila Rose Designs I decided to base my entire outfit around the flower crown....

{ sidenote: MRD is closed until the re-launch in late August while she works on new fabulous fall products!!!! }

since the crown was the main part of my outfit I knew I couldn't get too crazy with many more accessories or it would just look tacky. So I decided to add a big silver statement necklace to break up all the black and a ton of skinny silver bracelets. I completed the look with 2 statement rings on each hand along with my Tory Burch purse with silver accents. I decided to wear short booties instead of heels to give the dress a rocker feel. 

Besides the fun crinoline, which made me feel like a ballerina...another fun feature I loved about this dress is the back.....its like classy in the front, party in the back! 

I don't know why but after looking through the pictures I felt like a glamorized version of an evil Disney queen from Sleeping Beauty or Snow White.

Happy Friday!!! As usual I like to end the week with a quote. I don't know why but I just feel beginning & ending the week with some words of wisdom is healthy for soul.

So have you all seen the FRIENDS episode where Rachel & Ross talk about their free pass list?  Who would be on your free pass list?

So moving on from some beautiful men to a beautiful woman. I have really enjoyed getting to know this girl. She has FABULOUS style. I love everything she puts together....& she is apart of #TheMessyProject this month & cannot wait to see what she does. Her blog is a great mixture of fashion, fitness & life. Her personality is contagious & I know you're all gonna love her. SO without further ado meet ----

I'm Laura, and I blog over at Walking in Memphis in High Heels.


So, I'll tell yall a little about myself.  I am an almost 30 year old wife to a my sexy husband Shane.  I have 2 little yorkies who are my babies.  No point in trying to tell me they're not my kids.  = )

I am in grad school full time working on my MBA by night and a full time credit analyst by day.  And of course I can't forget blogger!  I just happened upon the blogging world last December after my hubby said I should try it out because I read so many fashion blogs, and I truly love it! 

My main passion is fashion...hence the walking in high heels...though I might be wearing some Dr. Scholls when I get older because of all these heels, but until then!  If you want to see plenty of elbow grabbing, fence posting and widow's peaks, then I'm your girl.   

The other thing I blog about is fitness.  I love running and cycling and pretty much any other outdoor activity.  I just ran my first half marathon a few weeks ago, and I look forward to doing another one this fall.  I would love it yall would stop by my blog and say hello.  I have at least 2 giveaways a week and I look forward to hearing from yall!

Since I've only been blogging for 4 months, I am still new to this and learning quite a bit myself, but the 3 pieces of blogging advice I would give everyone would be  to:

1.  Use high quality and large photos if possible.

2.  Be yourself, and don't try to be someone you're not.  I wish I could be that hilarious blogger who makes you die laughing every time you read, but that's just not me.  Embrace your talents and work on your weaknesses.  Everyone has something different to offer.

3.  Post on a regular schedule.  People look forward to reading, so if you're not posting regularly, they will never know when to expect your post and eventually they might just give up.
