Hey y'all!I'm Kate, from Classy Living.

I'm a fourth grade teacher.Bride-to-be.Zumba Instructor.Jersey girl, born and raised.Gluten-free.And lover of all things chocolate.My goal in life is to be classy, and I believe in good, old-fashioned manners, kindness, compassion, and humility.  

I write about all sorts of things, like the time I accidentally hit a guy in the face with a frisbee, my love for teaching people "lessons", my family's (rare) passive aggressive moments, and the horror of taking a Christmas card photo.I also have a pretty crazy love story, but it all worked out and we're gettin' married in June.  Looks like I succeeded in getting myself a ring by spring!

I've been at this blogging thing for just about a year now, so here are a few words of wisdom:


1 // Don't compare yourself to other bloggers.We all come from different backgrounds, have different goals, and most certainly have different ways of approaching this world we call the blogosphere.  Everyone comes from their own personal place in life, so don't even think about being judgmental.  Surround yourself with positivity.


2 // Pay attention to your followers!I'm sick and tired of hearing people say that the only thing that matters in blogging is writing for yourself.  Is that important?  Absolutely.  That being said, if you want readers (which I'm sure you do because you're publishing your biz on the internet rather than keeping it in a journal) you have to find out what they like.  If people identify with certain types of posts, by all means, keep 'em coming!  Find your niche (and notice I said YOUR and not just whatever the "popular" bloggers are doing) and give your readers what they enjoy!


3 // Be vulnerable.Blogging is fantastic because it gives you the opportunity to connect with other people on a more personal level.  Don't be afraid to put yourself out there.  Interact with your readers.  Get to know them.  Don't be afraid to reach out to "big" bloggers.  Ask for advice.  Leave genuine comments.  Be selfless and help your fellow blogging sisters.  The friendships you make will be SO worth it!Alright.  So now that I've told you all my secrets, why don't you head over my way so that we can be friends?

i just want to SCREAM

Do things ever happen to you that just make you want to SCREAM!? I consider myself a pretty happy person but there are things that annoy me.....& then there are certain things that make me want to SCREAM out loud for the world to hear. To be honest, just like I think its okay to cry sometimes....come on we allllll need a good cry every now and then - I also believe sometimes we just need to SCREAM...to let all our emotions out. Try it sometime....it really does help you feel better. 



SO I put together a short little list of things that make me just want to SCREAM{ & seriously this is just fun, please take no offense if you do any of this } 

Chipped nails after freshly painting them....nothing makes me scream more!


When people stand in line for quite some time & then when they get up to the register to order, they STILL do not know what they want to order......so unbelievably rude



Fake stories & people who lie....honesty is ALWAYS the best policy 



People who don't use turn signals


When someone wants the truth from you....so you give it, but then they're mad at you......seriously?


Anyone who likes to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when they go to Disneyland.....this is huge for me, I cannot stand it when someone says lets drink before Disney...its a place for children, to act like children...why the hell do you need to be under the influence to have fun there? I feel sad for you....& don't even get me started on the fact that California Adventure sells booze.

People who say they don't like drama, they're not drama, they don't get involved with drama etc......EVERYBODY will have drama in their life no matter what....sooo Get.Over.It. 



People who post their contact email like this - messydirtyhair {at } gmail { dot } com......it makes me scream just typing it......i don't get the point

so moving onto one of my favorite blondes.

i have been following this blonde girl for awhile now. I really enjoy her blog. She has a mix of fashion, life, animals & everything else in between. She is such a sweet girl with a hilarious sense of humor. I really love keeping up with her life via instagram and if you're a animal lover like me then you'll love her feed too. 


Even though she moved away from the best place ever...California - i still love her.

After graduating from college in California, I set my heart on the east coast. So I sold almost all of my stuff, packed the rest of it in the trunk of my honda accord, and drove the 3,500 miles back east.


Best. Decision. Ever.


I came to the east coast for a love of brick houses, the occasional snow storm, oxford shirt wearing boys, and most especially, my family. 

Naturally, just when I wasn't looking for a guy, I found one.Our love story is unconventional (for the blog world).
It's not sweet. It's not romantic.
It's mostly a lot of drunkenly making out in bars.  
Like I said, not super romantic.
It got romantic later, I promise.

Plus, during the day we had to pretend like we weren't doing that stuff, since we sat about 3 cubicles apart at work.

It's like the Where's Waldo of who's about to make out. Thanks, Atlantic City!

Since things were going so well, we bit the bullet, moved in together,and brought home our first born child.Meet Archie.

As a person, I do an outstanding job of embarrassing myself.You know those people who are kind of awkward and clumsy and it's endearing?I'm not one of them.Here's proof.

Occasionally I'll share my thoughts on serious stuff likewhy I'll take my husband's last name, mormon bloggers, and even why I left California.

Though I'm not an expert,here are 3 things I've learned since I started blogging:
1. Women just want to relate to other women. There are lots of us out there, and beings supportive of one another is the best thing we can do! The blog world has a lot of support to offer. There are friends to be made!

2. Set your Blogger account to send email notifications every time you get a comment. Then (God willing the person isn't a no-reply blogger), you are able to respond back to the comment via email. This is how the friendships in blog-land are formed! I learned this one way too late.

3. Social media is your friend. I get a lot of blog traffic from twitter. I also love to use my twitter account to share articles I think are funny or posts I love by other bloggers. And here's the bigger secret: I schedule some of my tweets using Hootsuite. I feel like it helps to maintain an online presence since I avoid tweeting at work.

so thrilling

here we are yet again...monday. i have such a busy week ahead....school, projects, student teaching, ellen taping, maroon 5....so this week is going to be crazy, but im excited!


I had a very low key weekend, like most weekends. i like it that way.

We had beautiful weather this week...it was still a little breezy but the skys were blue. The entire gang wanted to go outside & play....& by the entire gang I mean 4 cats & 2 dogs.


The BF & I were having a lazy sunday watching the Laker game when a Chilis commercial came on, displaying all their yummy food...my mouth was watering so we decided to take the drive to Chili's since we hadn't been in forever....since I live by the beach we have to drive inland to the nearest Chili's which can be frustrating, but was so worth it in the end.


The BF got sliders with onion strings which I stole & I got bacon, ranch steak quesadillas...which was what I saw on the commercial & was just as amazing in person....& ended the night watching SNL with Justin Timberlake & Anchor Man. What did you do this weekend?


so im not a mom...yet that is...but I def have my fair share of crazy babysitting days where I feel like a mom...& by the end of the day I am a complete mess, so it always amazes me when I see certain mommy bloggers who still manage to keep it together and look amazing....& speaking of fashion savvy moms today I have a girl who doesn't even look like she's a mom, she's so youthful.  I put together some of my favorite looks of hers  -

Hey there Messy People! I'm Sarah, the writer behind the blog Frills for Thrills where I document things that happen/don't happen to me along with my daily outfits.

 I have a cute baby and a handsome husband that sometimes make an appearance, but other than that you can expect to see pictures of me in my outfits talking about real stuff. Frills for Thrills is my only form of memory-keeping, so my content generally represents a filtered diary-- I don't share everything but I most certainly keep things real. I love blogging because, most days, it is my only form of social interaction as a stay-at-home-mom. The past few months, I've been able to pour more into my blog and have learned a few things along the way. My top three pieces of advice for a blogger are:

Be Original: When I visit your blog I want to know who you are, not who you are trying to be. Please write about what you love, not what you think other people want to read about. 

Be Nice: View other bloggers as teammates and not as competition. Believe it or not, the internet is big enough for all of us! Don't use your blog to bash people (directly or indirectly) and always be positive when leaving someone a comment. 

Be Genuine: Similar to being original, it is important to be real. I understand that some bloggers like to "keep things positive" rather than share when they're going through a hard time, but I have found that blogging through rough seasons is not only therapeutic for me, but my readers tend to connect more when I admit that life isn't as perfect as the internet makes it seem.

But besides that she was the first blogger who I reached out to that actually wrote me back when I had a few quick questions...& she was as sweet as can be & since then I have followed her since I started blogging almost 1 year ago....SO i know you will just love her too. Besides being so down to earth, she has such a fun sense of style & writes from the heart....oh & did I mention its WEDDING week on her blog?!?

Hey, hey, hey!  I'm Sarah and I write over at Coming Unstitched.  It's my little space where I share my personal style (when I'm not wearing pajamas that is), my love for design, and advice/inspiration for your wardrobe!  I have just wrapped up doing a 30x30x30 challenge (which by the way, is kind of terrible so I don't recommend it- you'll miss your other clothes way too much) and this week I'm sharing alllllllllll about my recent wedding.  Which means you get to see way too many pictures of my face- and my adorable husband's.  When I'm not being obsessive with my blog or working full time, you can also find me writing a fashion column for my local newspaper, or working with clients in my new Etsy shop.  Clearly I don't have enough to do in my life.

Now that I've been blogging about a year and a half, I'm obviously an expert on the whole thing (this is definitely a joke- is ANYONE an expert on blogging?!) my best advice for you is this:

 Be kind.  First and foremost you must realize that people are putting themselves out there on their blog so there is no point in leaving rude comments.  If you don't like something, just move on.  And if someone comes to you for help, HELP THEM as best you can.  We're all very busy but there is a reason that this person is reaching out to you and usually it takes a lot of guts to do so.


  Leave THOUGHTFUL comments.  I love, love, love finding great new blogs and let's face it, there are a ton of them out there.  If someone leaves me a nice comment, 99% of the time I'm going to go to their blog and check it out.  But if all you leave is a "Great post, would you like to follow each other?" or "I'm following you, come follow me back", chances are I'm not coming to visit.  I put a lot of time into my posts (as I'm sure you do) so acknowledging that you actually read it is more important to me.


 Keep evolving.  When I first started out, I never did outfit posts.  As someone who works from home I'm usually in pajamas and you can't really launch a style blog with pajamas (or maybe you can- and it might just be the best blog ever!).  But the few times I did post an outfit, people LOVED it.  So over the year I've evolved once I've seen what my readers respond to.  I will always post what I love, but my readers are the ones giving me the opportunity to do so and the ones that keep coming back.  I want to keep them interested.  So change it up, introduce a new series, do something out of your comfort zone.  Just keep your readers coming back for more.

What is fearless fashion fridays? Well have you ever seen a trend that you LOVE but are too afraid to try it yourself? Or have you tried a new trend & wanna strut your self? High Waisted Swimsuits!

in all honesty i absolutely HATE being in a bikini, which sucks for me considering I am at the beach 24/7...so I really love this alternative look to a tiny bikini because it covers up a little more skin but not enough to make it a one piece. Plus it's just so trendy & fun. I love being fearless when it comes to clothes, it really gives me a chance to be original. 

Sooo if I had to pick one of the swim suits above I would want this print because is has such a hippy feel too it but minus the open ties on the side...thats a little much for me.
