One of my favorite things about sponsoring blogs & having bloggers sponsor me is I get to meet new people. When this girl sponsored me I had no idea who she was or what her blog was about. I'm Ange and I can be found obsessing over beauty products and my nails over at Hairspray and High Heels.  I live with the husband, where I'm a happy little housewife trainwreck and I try not to burn our apartment down with my crazy concoctions on a daily basis. I'm obsessed with big hair & animal print which makes my NJ stomping grounds the perfect place for me. I hoard nail polish, seriously, I have over 300 bottles it's taking over so if you know the number for nail polish-aholics my husband would love for you to pass it along. 

I'll be the first to tell you, I have Chanel taste on a Revlon budget so I can mostly be found writing about drugstore makeup finds, DIY Beauty Tips, the current skincare products I'm obsessed with to combat my unrealistic fear of wrinkles at 28, how crazy I really am and  my nails always my nails which on Wednesday's coincides with my absurd love of the movie Mean Girls so I wear  pink on Wednesday's.

I'm in love with blogging and the community that comes along with it. Meeting new women through blogging has been one of the most precious gifts I have found over the past year, so I give you my top 3 pieces of blogging advice: 

Be Yourself: Nobody wants to read the same scripted review 50 times, make it your own. Make your readers want to stop what they're doing, get up and go get whatever it is your talking about. 

Don't Take ANY Shit: Any community, being primarily full of women is going to get bitchy. Stand your ground, hold your own & refer back to my first piece of advice. <-----another reason I love her

Love it or Leave it: If you don't love what you're doing, stop doing it. Don't make it a job, make it yours, make it fun and most of all make it all about you.

i just want to SCREAM

Do things ever happen to you that just make you want to SCREAM!? I consider myself a pretty happy person but there are things that annoy me.....& then there are certain things that make me want to SCREAM out loud for the world to hear. To be honest, just like I think its okay to cry sometimes....come on we allllll need a good cry every now and then - I also believe sometimes we just need to SCREAM...to let all our emotions out. Try it sometime....it really does help you feel better. 



SO I put together a short little list of things that make me just want to SCREAM{ & seriously this is just fun, please take no offense if you do any of this } 

Chipped nails after freshly painting them....nothing makes me scream more!


When people stand in line for quite some time & then when they get up to the register to order, they STILL do not know what they want to order......so unbelievably rude



Fake stories & people who lie....honesty is ALWAYS the best policy 



People who don't use turn signals


When someone wants the truth from you....so you give it, but then they're mad at you......seriously?


Anyone who likes to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when they go to Disneyland.....this is huge for me, I cannot stand it when someone says lets drink before Disney...its a place for children, to act like children...why the hell do you need to be under the influence to have fun there? I feel sad for you....& don't even get me started on the fact that California Adventure sells booze.

so moving onto one of my favorite blondes.

i have been following this blonde girl for awhile now. I really enjoy her blog. She has a mix of fashion, life, animals & everything else in between. She is such a sweet girl with a hilarious sense of humor. I really love keeping up with her life via instagram and if you're a animal lover like me then you'll love her feed too. 


Even though she moved away from the best place ever...California - i still love her.

After graduating from college in California, I set my heart on the east coast. So I sold almost all of my stuff, packed the rest of it in the trunk of my honda accord, and drove the 3,500 miles back east.


Best. Decision. Ever.


I came to the east coast for a love of brick houses, the occasional snow storm, oxford shirt wearing boys, and most especially, my family. 

Naturally, just when I wasn't looking for a guy, I found one.Our love story is unconventional (for the blog world).
It's not sweet. It's not romantic.
It's mostly a lot of drunkenly making out in bars.  
Like I said, not super romantic.
It got romantic later, I promise.

Plus, during the day we had to pretend like we weren't doing that stuff, since we sat about 3 cubicles apart at work.

It's like the Where's Waldo of who's about to make out. Thanks, Atlantic City!

Since things were going so well, we bit the bullet, moved in together,and brought home our first born child.Meet Archie.

As a person, I do an outstanding job of embarrassing myself.You know those people who are kind of awkward and clumsy and it's endearing?I'm not one of them.Here's proof.

Though I'm not an expert,here are 3 things I've learned since I started blogging:
1. Women just want to relate to other women. There are lots of us out there, and beings supportive of one another is the best thing we can do! The blog world has a lot of support to offer. There are friends to be made!

2. Set your Blogger account to send email notifications every time you get a comment. Then (God willing the person isn't a no-reply blogger), you are able to respond back to the comment via email. This is how the friendships in blog-land are formed! I learned this one way too late.

3. Social media is your friend. I get a lot of blog traffic from twitter. I also love to use my twitter account to share articles I think are funny or posts I love by other bloggers. And here's the bigger secret: I schedule some of my tweets using Hootsuite. I feel like it helps to maintain an online presence since I avoid tweeting at work.

the MINI project - CUFFS

it's that timeeeee againnnnn

Welcome back to the 3rd edition of the MINI project!!! Since the MINI is still newer here's a little backstory on the project ---

New logo coming next month!! 

Well its allllllll about the mini parts of fashion - the ACCESSORIES...which can also play a huge role in our everyday outfits. Just like clothes, accessories are also worn differently by each person depending on their style, shape, look etc. So the MINI project will focus only on accessories....but I don't mean just jewelry - tights, hats, sunglasses, headbands, bows, scarfs, shoes, belts, gloves are alllll accessories as well. Like before -

so this round I wanted to try out another trend that I have been seeing a lot of...and a trend I have yet to try. So I decided to go with a 'Cuff' Necklace as the stores are calling it...& basically it is exactly like a cuff you would wear on your wrist, but just on your neck....& i chose to pick a pretty bright color instead of the usual gold or silver. 

So I was thinking of different ways you can wear this necklace and I wanted to show you what it would look like it you wore it with a collared shirt for a more conservative look.


At the office or other work places you may not be able to wear a scoop or V-neck tee so you need to think of other options as to how to style your necklace. 

So I decided to use this necklace with a professional look, one that would be acceptable in a work place. 

so as you can see I have a collared shirt on that covers me up to be work appropriate. I buttoned the shirt all the way and I placed the necklace outside of the shirt, under the collar....so just a little bit shows in the front for a subtle yet chic look. 

So you can see that even if you have to be all covered up for any reason you can still accessorize, look conservative and chic at the same time.

friends forever?

Hello dolls!

My name is Bonnie, but that's boring so I make people call me Bon Bon!  Now I sound like a hot latin dance!  Oh, spicy!  I blog over at The Life of Bon where I pretty make fun of 16 year old hood rats all day seeing that teaching English to high schoolers is my full time job.  I love everything about my job except for one little thing.

I miss my friends.

(I'm wearing the bright red lipstick.  Hey, go big or go home.)

So now tell me.  What is the deal with making friends when you're married?  Am I the only one who thinks it totally blows?  All I want to do is pick up a couple of chicks to roll around two with and suddenly that seems impossible!


I have always been an outgoing person- surrounding myself with hordes and hordes of people.  The more, the merrier in my book.  In college I lived with my best friends.  Our lives were constant cycles of prank wars, swapping boyfriends, borrowing clothes, and staying up late watching The Office while inhaling tubes of cookie dough.


My college besties have mostly scattered by this point.  Two live in Arizona, one lives in New Mexico, one lives in California, and one lives in Colorado.  A few live close to me in Utah, but one with plans to move to Connecticut in the spring.  Sometimes I sit back and look at pictures of college and wonder, "How is it possible that that is already over?"


My bonds with my college friends are stronger than steel.  But they ain't around anymore.  So time to find someone new who will watch Bachelor and paint her toenails with me.  But living just with Hubs and not in a college apartment complex, I don't even know how to go about meeting new girls.  Girls I do meet, at church or school, I enjoy talking to, but seem a far cry from the besties I partied away my early twenties with.  I have trouble connecting like I used to.  Is it because now we  have husbands who are our #1 priority, or is it because instead of ditching class to stalk boys on facebook we now have jobs we have to go to?  What makes it more difficult to make friends after college?


Don't get me wrong.  I love hanging with Hubs.  Of all my friends, he's my favorite one I've ever had.  But he's busy a lot.  And even when he's not busy, we still have different interests.  As much as I wish it were so, Hubs doesn't want to go shopping and get a pedicure with me.  Nor does her care that Kate Middleton is preggers (EEK!).  Also, I need more social interaction than Hubs does.  I am an extrovert and get my energy by being around people.  Hubs is an introvert and gets his energy by relaxing and being by himself.  Meaning that if I stay in and watch movies all day on Saturday with Hubs I am going to explode my Bon energy all over everybody before the night is through.  Friends for a girl like me are an absolute necessity.


The New York Times ran this article in July about making friends as an adult.  It is fascinating to me. Are there more friends out there for me in this great big world, or is my friend count maxed out?


How do you make friends after college?  And does having a significant other make it even more difficult?  How about babies?  Do they complicate friendships even further?!?  You better believe that when I have babies I'm going to use those bad boys as tools to make more friends.  "Hey!  You have a baby?!?  I have a baby!!!  Let's go to the mall together!"


Anybody who has made tons of friends after college want to share your wisdom with us?  Where do you make friends- especially if you are not working?  And do you keep in touch with your friends from college and high school?  My brother once told me that friendship is merely a matter of convenience- that friendships disintegrate as soon as it is not convenient anymore.


Please.  Say it ain't so.

so on Friday Lincoln Street Boutique celebrated their 1 year anniversary of opening with a little private party at the store......balloons, cake, booze & fashion...can you think of anything better?

That's the owner of LSB cutting the cake......& of course I had to try on some of the new clothes while I was there.....

but this girl is broke so I wasn't able to buy anything....but I still got my eye on that long black skirt - bottom left.....It was a great party & so much fun to celebrate the store...excited for more years to come!

also this weekend my baby Maxx finally got his hair cut on Saturday. Maxx is THE poster dog for MessyDirtyHair. He was defiantly embracing the mess.....maybe a little bit too long

facelift

well hello everyone & happy saturday! 

i normally don't post on Saturdays because I believe the weekend is my time BUT today is a very exciting day!!

As you can probably see MessyDirtyHair got a major face lift…something I wasn't planning on doing for a little bit but when Kristen of Whiskey Tango Fox had a little free time while she was updating my bio for me....…& well one thing led to another & here we are with a whole new look!!

Kristen is seriously amazing. I didn't have to change anything - she literally knows me & my style so well! 

I am beyond excited about this new design! Its fresh & a lot brighter….Sure, I could've done the design myself, but I believe in supporting fellow designers plus I was always obsessed with Kristen's previous work.  She is an amazing blog designer & I recommend her to anyone who needs a blog face lift!
